About
I was handed a stack of Jon Kabat-Zinn cassette tapes in 1998, and so began a journey into meditation that changed my life in both expected and surprising ways.
My practice helps me surf all the ups and downs of being human, with far less suffering and much more appreciation for the good stuff. It’s given me amazing strategies to manage anxiety, addiction, chronic illness and a cranky nervous system, and also helps me be a better, happier person. I’m less in my mind, more in my body and heart, and enjoy ever-increasing relief from the stories of the mind.
I love sharing practice, and began my teaching journey at Grail Springs Retreat Centre for Wellbeing in 2011. Since then, I’ve offered countless meditation workshops, classes, private coaching sessions and courses in a wide variety of settings, including community, retreat and online spaces. During my six-year engagement with the Awaken the World Initiative, I co-created meditation-related projects, notably the Samadhi films (Part One and Part Two), and co-taught several residential meditation retreats.
In 2022 I founded Seeds in order to host in-person retreats with an incredible team of teachers. In 2023, Seeds grew into Seeds Meditation Community, and we now offer a full weekly calendar of free, drop-in zoom meditation sessions.
Many wonderful teachers have influenced my practice over the years: Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Jack Kornfield, Rupert Spira, Michael Taft, Tara Brach, Leigh Brasington…too many to mention. But when introduced to the teachings of Shinzen Young in 2016 I was completely hooked, and have since attended several retreats with him. In 2023 I became a certified Teacher/Trainer in his brilliant Unified Mindfulness (U.M.) system, and have had the honour of co-teaching a week-long meditation retreat with Shinzen that same year. Since then I’ve been thrilled to support the training of up and coming teachers as a TA in the U.M. Compass program.
I can’t imagine life without my practice; it’s helped me in so many ways. Because of this, I’m committed to continued learning and improvement to best support my own journey, as well as those of the people I lead in practice and support. Please get in touch if I can support you in any way.
